Contingent to the ASU National Day of Action

Parramatta Wharf, Parramatta NSW 2150

Fair Work is reviewing the SCHADS Award and the proposal is a major attack on social & community workers. Wage cuts could hit 3 in 4 workers, in a sector that’s over 70% women. Sexual assault counsellors could lose up to $930/week; a mental health caseworker with 5 years’ experience faces a 20% ($360/week) cut. Join NSW Socialists in solidarity with community sector workers in opposing these attacks at the national day of action organised by the Australian Services Union

Forum: How do we solve the climate crisis?

Bistro, Katoomba Family Hotel, Katoomba NSW 2780

The worsening bushfires, floods and heatwaves are no accident - they’re the predictable outcome of an economy built on profit above all else. And there's no solution in sight: Labor makes empty promises of “net zero” while approving new coal and gas projects, leaving ordinary people to bear the costs of a crisis created by capitalism itself. Join NSW Socialist members John Toglioni, retired local teacher, firefighter of 17 years and union militant, and Chris Anderton, activist and outdoor guide, to discuss what a real solution would look like: one based on public ownership, workers’ control, and a society organised for people and planet, not profit.
