The Inner West Council's 'Fairer Future' plan, and why we oppose it

Published on 1 Dec

The Inner West Council’s “Fairer Future Plan” hands developers approval to build 44,000 private apartments — with no public housing, sham affordability quotas, and mass demolition of existing low-cost rentals. NSW Socialists oppose the plan because it will worsen the housing crisis, price out young people and essential workers, strain local infrastructure, and ignore genuine community consultation. We’re campaigning for a community-led alternative based on public housing, real affordability, and protecting renters and green space.
