Stories of Anti-War Resistance - NSW Socialists Inner West Fundraiser
Sun 26 Apr @ 3:00 PM
Come join us to raise funds for the Inner West campaign at the Petersham Bowlo!
This fundraiser marks Anzac Day in a decidedly anti-establishment way: by remembering the legacy of the anti-war movement in Australia and hearing stories of resistance, past and present.
We’re excited to hear from Rowan Cahill and Diane Fieldes. Cahill is a labour historian, radical writer and co-author of Radical Sydney, as well as a Vietnam War-era draft resister and anti-war activist. After being called up for conscription, he burned his call-up papers, refused medical examinations and became active in the movement against the war and the draft. Fieldes is a longtime socialist activist, historian and writer who became involved in the anti-war movement while still at high school during the Vietnam War, and has spent decades writing on struggle, class politics and radical history in Australia.
Together, they’ll speak about their own involvement in struggle and the rich history of anti-war and radical activism in the Inner West.
It’ll be a great night of politics, history and solidarity, and an important chance to support our upcoming campaign!
