Newcastle has long been taken for granted by Labor, but One Nation's Trumpian, racist, anti-immigrant politics do nothing to help ordinary people. They are backed by some of the wealthiest billionaires in the country, Gina Rinehart and Rupert Murdoch. This toxic, racist politics has been encouraged by years of Labor and Liberal governments, with One Nation getting over 20% of the first preference vote in the South Australian state election.
