Our policies
These are some of the key policies we’re taking into the 2027 state election. They are part of a broader policy platform currently in development, covering the key issues facing working-class people across NSW.
Our full policy platform will be released soon.
A vote for the Socialist Party is a vote for something radically different to the major parties.
Creating an economy and society that works for everyone will cost a lot. Fortunately, there is no shortage of wealth in our society.

Homes for all
Housing should be a right, not a commodity. We’re fighting for a 35% rent cut, 150,000 public homes, a state bank and an end to property hoarding.

Fighting the cost of living crisis
Everyone deserves a good life. We’re fighting for public groceries, price caps, free public transport and free spaces to socialise and enjoy.

Early childhood & education
Every child deserves free, quality education and care. We’re fighting for more funding, free public childcare, smaller classes and more staff.

Fix the health crisis
Healthcare should be free and public. We’re fighting for more nurses, doctors and beds, safe staffing ratios, and an end to privatisation and outsourcing.

Accessible and sustainable transport
Public transport should be public, frequent and free. We’re fighting to end privatisation, abolish tolls and expand buses, trains and regional rail.

Make power affordable and sustainable
Energy is essential infrastructure. We’re fighting for a public takeover to immediately cap electricity and gas bills, and transition to renewables sources.

Workers’ power - wages, unions & workers’ rights
Everyone deserves well paid, secure work. We’re fighting for the right to strike, major wage rises, and an end to wage theft.

Climate change & the environment
The climate crisis is driven by the profit motive. We need a shift to 100 percent publicly owned renewable energy and an end to old-growth logging.

Put politicians on a worker's wage
Politicians should live like the rest of us. We’ll cap MPs’ pay at an experienced nurse’s wage and end their perks.

Tax corporations and the rich
We live in a rich state, yet resources are unevenly shared. We want to tax the wealth of the billionaires and banks. This wealth should fund essential services.

Banking for people not profit
Banks should serve society, not shareholders. We’re fighting for a State Bank offering cheaper home loans and funding for public housing and infrastructure.

Democracy and the right to protest
Democracy means the right to organise, strike and protest. We’re fighting to repeal anti-protest laws, curb police repression and protect civil liberties.

First Nations
Australia was built on dispossession. We’re fighting for self-determination, land rights, reparations and an end to deaths in custody and child removals.

Opposing racism – we’re stronger together
Racism serves the rich and powerful by dividing workers. We’re fighting for working-class unity against racism so we can build a better society for everyone.

Fighting for women’s liberation
Women deserve equality, safety and bodily autonomy. We’re fighting for free abortion and contraception, equal pay, public childcare and housing support.

End homophobia and transphobia
LGBTQIA+ people deserve equality, safety and healthcare. We’re fighting for free gender-affirming care, inclusive education and an end to discrimination.

Oppose AUKUS & militarism
We need to tear up AUKUS, scrap the US alliance and shut down all US bases. Military spending should be redirected into healthcare, housing and education.
